2026 Pylots Melbourne

A team of young Melbourne leaders who took on the FLL Bioglow competition, built things that fly, float and pump, learned to code in Python, and went to see Youth Parliament in action.

What the team did

Four things shaped the 2026 season: a competition, hands-on builds, a new programming language and a Youth Parliament session.

Compete

FLL Bioglow competition

The team entered FIRST LEGO League and took on the Bioglow challenge — a team competition that brings robot building, programming and teamwork together.

We took part with the backing of STEM Incubators Inc, who supported us with the tools and guidance the competition required.

Build

STEM projects, built by hand

Alongside the competition, the team built working models to see how engineering ideas play out in real life.

Code

Learning Python

The team learned to code in Python — turning ideas into programs, and building the skills behind robotics and modern software.

Lead

Victorian Youth Parliament session

The team went to a Youth Parliament session in Melbourne to see how young people deliver speeches, and to hear the topics they choose to speak up about.

The team lined up at the rail of the public gallery, with the ornate Legislative Council chamber and the young speakers below.
